Background

FHOK –FCMC Nyeri was started in 1965 and is one of the 14 FHOK medical facilities. It is one kilometer from Nyeri town and is situated next to KEMSA, opposite Nyeri PGH.

It started as a focal point in provision of Information, Education and communication in the area of Family Planning in both Central and Eastern area. Family Planning services were however introduced two years later.

With the introduction of Mobile clinics in 1969, the center employed more healthcare providers who gave quality healthcare services. This led to the centre being a center of excellence in Family Planning services in the given area which again led to the establishment of a Regional VSC Training Center that served Central and Southern Africa.
